Competitions/Performances: Here is a look at the dates of competitions…
* April 13th: Maple Mountain High School in Spanish Fork. This is for ALL teams: Stars Show Team AND Pre-show, INCLUDING Mamas! Times TBA. I will be emailing the schedule, posting it online, and sending a paper copy home as soon as the final schedule is available.

* May 18th: NATIONALS at Taylorsville High School in Taylorsville. This is for the Stars Show Team ONLY.
* May ??: Spring Recital. Still waiting for date/times to be solidified. I am working hard on trying to find a day that a school auditorium is not booked. Please be patient with me. Sorry I do not have a date yet.
Pictures: We will be doing studio pictures during regular class times the week of April 22nd – 26th. (No technique on the 25th and 26th) They will be “glamour” shots. Hair does not have to be done in “competition” style. I would recommend make-up, but you don’t have to do the heavy “competition” make-up. Every student will take a picture, even if you aren’t ordering pictures. Make sure you bring all your costumes and accessories, including SHOW costumes. We will start taking pictures in our jazz costumes. Megan Wintle will be doing our pictures again. We are delighted she is able to do them again. We will have order forms in April, but we will also have some available at the studio for the day of pictures. Save the dates, and more info to follow in the April newsletter. Stars Show Team outdoor pictures will be Friday, May 10th. More info to follow. (No technique that day.)
Extra gym practices: Here is a look at upcoming gym rehearsal practices. All practices will be at the Old Pleasant Grove Rec Center. Address: 65 E. 200 S. in Pleasant Grove. I tried to schedule rehearsals on days that students already have class, but it was not possible for all the dates scheduled.
* Wednesday, March 27th: Pre-show teams – Junior & Senior preshow 4 – 5:15 pm; Express 5:15 – 6 pm; Express, Junior & Senior preshow for SHOW 6 – 7 pm. This is a MANDATORY rehearsal, and it is NOT a dress rehearsal.
* Tuesday, April 9th: Pre-show teams – This is a dress rehearsal for ALL preshow classes. This rehearsal replaces the studio rehearsal and IS MANDATORY. If you do not attend this rehearsal you may not be allowed to compete at the upcoming competition. Junior & Senior preshow 4:30 – 5:30 pm; Mini preshow 5:30 – 6:15 pm; Jr. CREW & Express preshow 6:15 – 7:15 pm; Express, Juniors & Senior preshow for SHOW practice 7:15 – 8:30 pm; Mamas 8:30 – 9:30 pm.
Stadium of Fire: We once again have been invited to perform in the Stadium of Fire! This is such a wonderful experience for these dancers! Stadium of Fire (SOF) is an extra program that is open to dancers age 8 and up (age deadline is July 1st). There is a LOT that goes into this show. It is a major commitment! There are mandatory practices at the stadium; they are long and in the sun for the entire day. The cost to participate in the SOF will be $250. This includes: your monthly tuition for June, 2 – 3 practice outfits (exclusive only to those doing SOF), your costume and props for the show, a dvd of your performance in the show, and your field seat to watch the show. This caliber of show is not for everyone! Although it is open to ages 8 and up, not all dancers will be ready for the intensity of this show and its practices. Class will be held twice a week for 1 ½ hours each day, plus the mandatory practices at the field the few days before the show. The Stadium of Fire will be held on Thursday, July 4th. I need to know if you are interested in participating. A $50 deposit will be due by March 30th in order to hold your spot. Once you have put your deposit down, you are committed to it!! There will be NO refunds! If you would like to know more about this program, please feel free to ask me. As mentioned before, not all dancers will be ready and accepted to do this program. Please consider this carefully before making your decision. If you have not participated in SOF before, please talk with me about the commitment to see it if is right for you! The remainder of the money will not be due until May 24th.
Summer and fall classes: We are working on getting the schedule up for summer and next season. Summer classes run June and July (with August off), and fall classes start in September. Try-outs for the Stars team will be in August. ALL current members must try out each year. No one will be automatically placed on a team. Watch for the schedules soon. I will also be offering the adult classes, “Mamas” 2 nights a week in the summer! Watch for more info on that!
Warm-ups, t-shirts, and duffle bags: You can still order your Diva’s swag! If you would like to see what we have, come on in and I would be happy to show you…We’ve got warm-ups for your dancer AND mom’s (great way to travel to and from competitions); t-shirts for all ages, dancers and the siblings of dancers to show support; cute v-neck tees or regular tees for moms; and even MEN’s tees so dad’s can show support too!! Come check them out! J Tees start at just $10 and go from there, warm-ups are $65 for the set, duffle bags are a great way to keep all your dancers stuff together and are just $40. We also have hanging costume bags for $35. Add names to the warm-ups or bags for just $5 per name. These are great to have for competitions!! Get your early to make sure we have the sizes you need. I will be taking an order to get names put on items the last week in March. This will be the final time I take things to get embroidery before competitions. Get your orders in before then if you want your name on anything. We have a few gently used items that are for sale at a lower price than new. If you are interested in these items, let me know. Also, if you have gently used items you would like to re-sale, feel free to post them on our Facebook page!
There is a LOT going on in the next few months! Please check your emails and refer to the newsletter often to know what’s going on. I also post a lot on Facebook in our group. So check us out there for up-to-date info too! If you have questions, please feel free to ask before or after your dancers’ class. Thanks!!
